Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

MortgageMatchr is a digital service owned and operated by Fynor Digital ("Fynor Digital", "we", "us"). Through mortgagematchr.ca, we provide a referral service that connects people in Canada with independent, licensed mortgage agents and brokers. We are not a lender, mortgage brokerage or financial advisor. Agents in our network are independent professionals and are not employees of MortgageMatchr or Fynor Digital.

We follow the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply, provincial privacy laws, including Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you fill out a form, we collect what you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number, postal code and what you need help with (for example, buying, renewing or refinancing). Mortgage agents who apply to join our network also provide their name, contact details and territory.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, we and our service providers may collect basic technical information, such as your browser type, device, pages visited and approximate location based on your IP address, using cookies and similar tools.

What we don't collect. Our forms do not ask for your Social Insurance Number, banking details or credit information, and we do not perform credit checks.

3. How we use your information

• To match you with an independent, licensed mortgage agent who serves your area.
• To send you a confirmation email that includes your matched agent's contact information.
• To respond to your questions and requests.
• To review applications from mortgage agents who want to join our network.
• To operate, secure and improve our website.
• To meet our legal obligations.

We only use your information for the purposes described here, or for other purposes you consent to.

4. Consent

By submitting a form, you consent to us collecting your information and sharing it with one independent mortgage agent for the purpose of contacting you about your mortgage needs. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us (see section 11). Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer help you.

If you choose to work with the agent, any credit check or mortgage application is handled by that agent, with your separate consent, under their own privacy practices.

5. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

• With one mortgage agent. Your form details are sent to the independent, licensed agent who serves your area. Once received, the agent is responsible for how they handle your information.
• With service providers. We use trusted providers to run our website, forms, email and data storage. They may only use your information to provide services to us and must protect it.
• When required by law. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or others.
• Business transfers. If our business is sold or merged, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

6. Storage outside Canada

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States. When that happens, your information may be subject to the laws of that country and accessible to its authorities. We take reasonable steps to make sure these providers protect your information.

7. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to make our website work, remember your preferences and understand how the site is used. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site, such as our forms, may not work properly without them.

8. Emails and communications

We send emails related to your request, such as your match confirmation. We will only send marketing messages with your consent, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every marketing email includes a way to unsubscribe.

9. How we protect and keep your information

We use reasonable physical, administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information from loss, theft and unauthorized access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes in this policy or as required by law, then securely delete or anonymize it. If a privacy breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the appropriate regulator as required by law.

10. Your rights

Subject to legal limits, you can:

• Ask what personal information we hold about you and how it has been used or shared.
• Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Withdraw your consent, or ask us to delete your information.
• Make a complaint about how we handle your information.

To make a request, email us using the address in section 11. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within 30 days.

If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, where applicable, your provincial privacy regulator (such as the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec, or the privacy commissioners of Alberta and British Columbia).

12. Children

Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority in their province or territory.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If we make significant changes, we will post a notice on our website.
